Situated near the Cuciurgan power plant complex on the outskirts of Tiraspol, this Soviet-era monument commemorates the workers and builders associated with the city's industrial infrastructure. Soviet monumental sculpture frequently glorified industrial labour and the workers who built the economic foundations of the state — power plants, factories, and collective farms were understood as acts of political will made concrete.

The Cuciurgan plant remains one of the largest electricity generators in the region, supplying power not only to Transnistria but also to Moldova and Ukraine. The plant's continued operation gives Transnistria unusual leverage — energy dependency has been a recurring factor in negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol. The monument beside it carries a different weight than it once did: no longer a celebration of socialist construction, but a marker at the edge of a statehood dispute conducted partly in kilowatts.
